Application Instructions

ELIGIBILITY

 

Applicants must be:

  • Of Caribbean heritage: that is, born in the Caribbean OR have a parent who was born in the Caribbean

  • Living in the USA

  • Enrolled or accepted in a matriculated 4- or 2-year undergraduate program at an accredited college or university in the USA

  • Pursuing post-secondary education in one of the sciences

 

REQUIREMENTS


Please complete the Application Form and Certification section.

1. Essay:

  • Write an essay about yourself, explaining your career goals, what you plan to study and why you want to further your education. The essay should be about 600 words.

2. Letter of Acceptance

  • Submit a letter of acceptance from an accredited college or university or if already enrolled, a copy of your university/college ID card (front and back).

 

3. Transcript

  • Submit your official college transcript (submit your high school transcript in addition to any college transcript if less than 2 years of college have been completed).

 

4. Proof of Heritage

  • Submit proof of heritage in the form of a certified copy of applicant's birth certificate or passport, or that of applicant's parent.

 

5. References

  • Submit two letters of reference: one academic (by a faculty member or dean) and one community (from a community mentor with whom you have worked or who knows you well).

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

Qualified Scholarship applicants will be judged based on the following criteria:

 

  • Academic Achievement

  • Responses to Essay & Application Questions

  • Extracurricular Activities

  • Demonstrated Leadership

 

APPLICATION MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN APRIL 15.
